About Us
The West Virginia University Robotics Team was formed in 2010 upon the advice of Captain Jon McBride, a proud WVU alumni and the only West Virginian Astronaut. The team is comprised of graduate and undergraduate students from a variety of disciplines. It is funded by the NASA West Virginia Space Grant Consortium and partners with the Air Force ROTC Detachment 915 at West Virginia University. The team has achieved many successes in robotics competitions over the years including the 2012 & 2013 RASC-AL Exploration Robo-Ops Student Challenge competition, where the Mountaineers finished 4th overall both years while receiving other awards. The team has also participated in the previous three NASA Lunabotics Mining Competitions, in which the they were the only team to place in the top three for the Joe Kosmo Award for Excellence Grand Prize competition all three years, among other awards. The Mountaineers will once again be looking to claim the top prizes in this year's competitions and continue their tradition of excellence.
